Painted recipes

epercivalrecipe1

My dear friend Milli Taylor is the most fantastic cook, caterer and cookery writer.  I’m an avid follower of her blog, Milli’s Kitchen and had lots of fun designing her logo a few years ago.  She has a beautiful book of canapes and party food coming out this autumn too!

Inspired by the delicious recipes she regularly posts online, I decided to create a series of illustrated recipe cards, with the hopes of selling them in my shop as a little gift set when I’ve gathered enough.  More to come…

Orlando

orlando Orlando by Virginia Woolf is one of my favourite books of all time.  Designing a cover seemed like a perfect mini-project to ease me back in to work that is not about Atalanta!

GET ‘EM WHILE THEY’RE HOT

My shop is open for business! I got my tester print back from the printers a couple of days ago and was so pleased that I immediately spent silly-money on ordering more.

For now there are only five prints available, but if it goes well I’ll expand the range!Screen

I think it says it on there but please allow 14 days for all orders.  Within the UK only, I’m afraid.

PS. If you notice any stupid mistakes, please don’t imagine I’m too proud to be told about it!

The Owl and The Pussycat

My best friend once told me that she thought this was the most romantic poem there is.  Maddy is fantastically well-read and always makes brilliant recommendations, and her sister had asked her for suggestions of what to read at a friend’s wedding.  Her sister wasn’t convinced by this particular idea, and when Maddy told me, incredulous, I realised this summed up almost everything I love most about her.

For Madeleine (you’ll get the real thing when I find a nice frame)

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
“O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are, you are, you are,
What a beautiful Pussy you are.”
Pussy said to the Owl “You elegant fowl,
How charmingly sweet you sing.
O let us be married, too long we have tarried;
But what shall we do for a ring?”
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows,
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose, his nose, his nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
“Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling your ring?”
Said the Piggy, “I will”
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon.
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand.
They danced by the light of the moon, the moon, the moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
